Four Tips to Stay Consistent, Working Toward Your Fitness Goal

All of us understand that the only way to be successful on a fitness journey is to remain consistent. In this post, we will look at four ways in which you can remain consistent with your fitness goals. Let’s delve right into it.

First, set a specific time slot that is convenient for you every day. We all know that doing something every day makes it a habit, so it is important to exercise every day at the same time. You can pick whatever time is convenient for you- morning or evening and stick to it. That is why when we program at Jeff's Gym we push for the consistent times every week. While life happens and adjustments are necessary, generally sticking to the same time slots is really what moves the needle.

Secondly, it is very important to have a cheat day. Though it sounds counterintuitive, it is actually quite in line with your goals. Now, the cheat day can be once a week or once a month. What it does is ensure that your cravings are satiated so you do not spend every day eating food and engaging in other habits that are counterproductive to your fitness journey. Many feel the idea of the cheat day is cheap. "You don't cheat on tests, you don't cheat on your spouse, why would you cheat on your wellness?' maybe don't call it a cheat day, but when you let loose on one day, you don’t feel the need to do so every single day.

Third, do not lose hope; this journey is not a straight line. If you miss your workout on one day, it is normal to feel that everything is falling apart, but it isn't. It's not that serious. Get back to your routine the following day and go from there. We con only move forward one day at a time.

Finally, set a S.M.A.R.T (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely) goal- “I will lose 5 pounds,” or “I will increase my bicep size by one inch” and set a reasonable timeline. Remind yourself of the goal every day. Consistency will come automatically.
